Flying Sheep Studios

Team

We love games!

Flying Sheep Studios was founded early 2014 by Thomas Rössig, Daniel Nienhaus and Benjamin Cid Pérez in the beautiful city of Cologne. They had met some years before, while working at the biggest German flash game publisher. Having recognised the need for web games which could be played on all platforms, they decided to open a game studio together.
They are now working hard to grow Flying Sheep Studios into an established games company, and have been joined in that endeavour by a team of people as enthusiastic as they are themselves.

Thomas

Thomas

Founder | Managing Director

Thomas takes care of the business side of Flying Sheep Studios. He is the oil which keeps the game making machine running smoothly. His tasks include sales, project management and business administration.

Thomas has been preparing to found a game company for a long time. During his business studies with entrepreneurship focus, he wrote his master thesis on the subject of free-to-play games. In his previous work experience he had jobs in various positions in several web and gaming start-ups. This gave him the opportunity to explore all the facets of running a company, and developing game projects.

Daniel

Daniel

Founder | Technical Director

Since he was a little kid, Daniel loved computers and technology. Learning to program was the natural thing to do. Decades later he is still learning.

Daniel is responsible for keeping the company on the cutting edge of web technology, from backend to frontend. Before co-founding Flying Sheep he worked on a web-based multiplayer platform and browser games.

Ben

Ben

Founder | Creative Director

When Ben got his first gaming console at the age of 10, the first thing he did was mostly ignore it and begin drawing down ideas for all the awesome games that popped into his head. After many years, little has changed and Flying Sheep's creative director still spends more time designing games than actually playing them.

Guido also worked as a game design teacher at a private college for two years.

In 2016 Carlos became a part of Flying Sheep, while he finishes his master studies at the Cologne Game Lab.

Casilda

Casilda

Graphics

Casi is a Jack of all trades currently on board (mainly) as a 3D generalist.

Her jobs have shifted from cameraperson to foley artist for TV, though her most persistent role has always been dedicated to postproduction: editing and CGI. She graduated in Audiovisual Communication B.Soc.Sc. in 2015 at UPV (Spain) with her first video game concept, and is now writing her thesis on Game Development & Research M.A. at the CGL (Germany).

She likes to experiment with all kinds of media and truly believes in games as an art form, like cinema, theatre or literature. Hence they aswell deserve to be criticised, analysed and -of course- enjoyed.

Christian

Christian

Development

Christian is the youngest sheep in the office, working as a programmer since October 2018.

After finishing school, Christian visited a "Berufskolleg" for 3 years to get a degree as a "Computer Science Assistant". In these 3 years Christian gained self-taught knowledge in game development in his spare time and even wrote some games on his own. In the second year of education he had to do an internship at a computer company of his choice.

That’s how, in 2017, he first got into contact with Flying Sheep. He instantly fell in love with the people of the Flying Sheep office and the work he had to do, so the next logical step for him was to apply in 2018. And as you can see, it worked out great for him.

Rüdiger

Rüdiger

Project Management

Rüdiger is taking care of the project management and the general moral on board. Having started his career in academia, he knows all about frustration and decided that game development is a much more stress free working environment (naturally).

He earned a B.A. in German literature and History, a M.A. in History and Cultural Anthropology (both at the University of Göttingen) and has worked on various narrative projects throughout text, video and interactive media. Right now, he is finishing his second Master degree at the Cologne Game Lab with a thesis on the design of narrative multiplayer games in the context of migration.

Rüdiger also worked as a clerk in various positions (i.e. you learn a lot about people in gas stations and libraries in the middle of the night) and as a media studies lecturer.

Lena

Lena

Project Management

Lena is part of the project management team at Flying Sheep where she supports the teams in doing what they love. She will also take care of the organizational development, including HR and accounting.

She has a Bachelor in Tourism Management and a Master in Strategic and International Management. Having lived in the Netherlands, England, Finland, Bavaria (the most exotic place of all) and Brazil throughout her studies, she got quite used to juggling several projects at once. Now back in Germany, her interest for technology and the creative field brought her to Flying Sheep Studios.

Nici

Nici

Graphics

Most of her childhood she owned neither a PC nor a console, so all she did was drawing (oh and playing games from her friends ;D)

It developed to more than a hobby when she got her first own laptop and started working on commissions. She tried out different ways of being creative, like working at an art academy as well as teaching art. But ever since she started, she admired all the creative work behind videogames and dreamed of someday being able to create something other people would enjoy as much as she did.

Therefore she studied illustration and graphic design at the KDA, Cologne and as part of that she started as an intern at Flying Sheep Studios.

And that's how she found her way as game artist / UI designer to Flying Sheep Studios.
